The Rural Livelihoods Support Programme (RLSP) is a nine year programme being co-financed by the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) and the Government of Malawi. The total project cost is USD 16.5 million of which USD 14.8 million is a loan from IFAD, USD 1.2 million is GOM contribution and beneficiary contributions total USD 0.5 million. The loan agreement was signed on November 13, 2003 and declared effective on 30th August 2004 with the completion date of September 30, 2013 and closing date of 31st March 2014. The programme is intended to benefit rural poor households living in the programme impact areas, particularly female headed, those with smallest land holdings, school dropouts and other disadvantaged households.
